The Vow

Today I take back my power
With these words I leave behind
2020 — The year of mirrors.
I stand
Tall
Seeing myself more clearly than I ever did.
And those parts of me I gave away so selflessly
I leave as a parting gift because
Everything from this point forward is earned.
No longer shall I be a fool who begs for breadcrumbs.
Nay!
Today I take back my dignity, my dynasty,
My throne.
Today I stand in my power
That refuses to receive anything less than what I deserve.
I know my worth.
I finally see the gem I am,
The rare pearl hidden in the depths of the sea,
The radiant warmth that makes the darkest night, day.
My heart, will forever and always be, a treasure of sacred holiness
That loves and cherishes,
That gives with no bounds and would die before I hurt someone I love.
But from this day forward,
This vow I make to the me of lifetimes to come
To always shine bright, to stand firm in my truth, and dim my light for no one.
And now that I see me,
Finally see me,
I refuse to be anything less than
Treated equally.
