All This Nothing

I pull you close in my mind and whisper in your ear —
“Take me away from here…
away from the vultures and the crows,
away from the takers and the froze — n
hearts, who’ve forgotten who they are,
take me far.”
And you whisper back, “There’s beauty here,” and I sit with that
in the heaviness of superficiality that screams for attention
in likes and screens and I hold my breath, refusing —
